What We Collect
When you create an account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your plain-text password.
When you use the app, we store the materials you check off, patterns you log, shopping list items, and badge progress. This is your data and it powers the features you use.
We collect basic analytics events — things like page views, searches, and feature usage — to understand how the app is being used and improve it. These events are tied to your user account for debugging but are never shared with third parties in identifiable form.
If you arrive via a marketing link, we may store UTM parameters (source, medium, campaign) to understand which channels bring people to Hackle Tracker.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the app features you use
- To show you which patterns you can tie based on your materials
- To power AI-assisted coaching (Midge) with context about your inventory
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, subscription receipts)
- To send onboarding and product emails you can unsubscribe from at any time
- To generate anonymized, aggregate statistics about material popularity, pattern trends, and seasonal tying behavior — never tied to individual users
AI Features
When you use Midge (the AI coach), your question and a summary of your materials are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate a response. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models. We do not store the AI conversation content beyond basic request logging for rate limiting.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed through Stripe. We never see or store your full credit card number. Stripe handles all payment data under their own PCI-compliant privacy policy. We store only a Stripe customer ID and subscription ID to manage your plan.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share identifiable user data with third parties.
We may share anonymized, aggregate data — such as "the most commonly owned material is Elk Hair" or "Woolly Bugger is the most tied pattern in March" — with industry partners (manufacturers, retailers, media). This data cannot be traced back to any individual user.
Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you logged in). We use a simple analytics cookie preference to respect your choice about usage tracking. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.
Your Rights
- Access: You can see all your data in the app at any time
- Delete: Email us and we will delete your account and all associated data
- Export: Contact us for a full export of your data
- Unsubscribe: Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link
Data Storage
Your data is stored on Supabase (hosted on AWS) and served through Vercel. Both services maintain SOC 2 compliance and industry-standard security practices.
Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you via email or an in-app notice. Minor wording updates may happen without notice.
